Crafted Lives is a documentary series for Mazda UK following remarkable people across the UK who have chosen to forge their own path, trading convention for a life built with intention and soul.
The Mazda CX-30 sits at the heart of the series as the facilitator of that same philosophy, a car for people who choose their life deliberately, and live it fully.
Conceptualisation & Creative Development
Mazda's slogan for this campaign was “Crafted Lives" and we really needed to highlight how Mazda was facilitating peoples lives and businesses with a car that was also crafted to act as enabler for them. We decided to focus quite heavily on the creative process of our talent and then link that back to the car and how they aligned artistically as well as practically.
Shoot Planning & Storyboarding
The pre-production process involved some key planning meetings with the client, discussing a rough idea of how we wanted the videos to flow, as well as discussing some key shots that would feature at each location. The client then sourced our talent and structured the day to make sure we had time to film them in the making process, as well as time driving the car.
The nature of an artisan piece means that a lot of the shots come naturally on the day as we let them go about what they do best. This brought a real authenticity to the films and felt like we really got to experience a day in the life of our creatives.
